Happy Easter

The day had its ups and downs but in the end we were together as a family celebrating our risen Savior at church (almost on time), eating a special lunch which both boys gobbled up,  and even dyed some eggs and went on an Easter egg hunt with the big one while the little one took a nap.  :)

8 months old

 I'm not sure if I didn't celebrate Noah's 8th month birthday enough during the day or what but he decided to end the day in a big way...with a trip to the emergency room. That day was normal but when I went in to check on him before I went to bed, I noticed he was sounding really congested. I was a little worried  about the way he sounded but he was sleeping so I went to bed...but of course I was too busy listening to him breathe on the baby monitor that I couldn't sleep. Just after 11, he sounded worse and he woke up crying. I picked him up and he sounded like he was having a hard time breathing. We tried a breathing treatment which did not help any and finally decided I would just take him to the ER. He almost sounded like he had something stuck and I wasn't sure if he was getting enough oxygen and he started coughing too. As soon as I got to the ER, the nurse heard him and said it sounds like he has the croup. Sure enough, he did. They gave him an oral steroid to help open his passageways and it worked right away! So thankful he could breathe more normal again! Got back home about 1:30am.

A few other new things as you turn 8 months old:

  • 3 top teeth (for a total of 5 teeth)
  • new taggie blanket which you love  (thanks Nana!)
  • more table food (mashed potaoes, bananas, chicken, rice, black beans to name a few)
  • 18 month clothes (still fit into some 12 month)
  •  love to stand (at a toy or holding onto someone's hands)

Valentine's Day 2012

The day before Valentine's Day, my sweet husband brought home some beautiful flowers! Tulips are my favorite!

We had Mother's Day Out on Valentine's Day so our day was filled with parties, exchanging valentine cards, and high schoolers! Some high school students each year make a Valentine box for a child at MDO. They come and deliver it filled with cards  and candy! The kids love when they come! This year Caden's was green army men and Noah's was Noah's ark

Valentine's dinner was spent at home with my 3 boys! I am such a lucky girl to have 3 valentine's this year! We made steak and potatoes and I think it tasted better than if we had gone to a restaurant!

7 months

At 7 months, Noah....

* weighs 21.4 lbs and is 30 1/2 in long

* sits unsupported very well

* just starting to learn how to crawl...you pull yourself forward on your  belly and kick your legs to get what you want (which is usually your brother's toys)

* eats cheerios...still learning how to pick them up though

* loves tags

* loves to splash in the water in the duck tub

* takes turns laughing with big brother which then makes them both laugh harder...oh so cute!

* about to cut some top teeth

* finally sleeping through the night again...yay! :)

side note:
I have 7 month pictures but they are still on the camera and have not made it to the computer yet and I am already 10 days late on this post so maybe next month we will get the post and pic together!  :)

Snow day

It has not been a very cold winter this year (which is ok with me) but we have not had a lot of snow. The one day that we did get a little bit of snow, we decided to take the boys outside in the backyard and get the sled out. Caden has desperately been wanting to go sledding and has patiently been waiting for the snow to arrive this winter. So out we went... not a lot of snow but enough to make the sled go down our little backyard hill a couple times. After he was done sledding, he asked if we could have a snowball fight :) Not really enough snow for that but we did get some off of Daddy's car to throw a couple of snowballs. Then he wanted to build a snowman...definitely not enough snow for that!! Noah went down on the sled a couple times then watched his brother run around.  It seemed like he was trying to figure out what all the hype was about snow and being outside in the cold!

New Years/Vacation in Orlando

Yay for time away from the everyday! We went on vacation to visit Jimmy's family in Orlando for 9 days over New Years. I wouldn't exactly call it restful, but the time away and time spent with family and friends was great. Even some of his family from Puerto Rico came to visit. Schedules were completely thrown out the window as we got together to do many new things (for Caden) and of course eat lots of food!

While we were there we saw a parade and did lots of shopping (mostly the window kind) :)  Caden went to a marionette puppet show and saw the Little Drummer Boy. We also went bowling and ice skating, which were both firsts for Caden. He loved all of these! When we went ice skating and he first tried walking to the ice rink, he could barely stand but before we left he was walking on them like a pro! I could not believe how fast he picked up on how to walk in them. Now ice skating itself was a different story. Daddy mainly just pushed him around the rink but he still had a blast! The night we went bowling, we were there til midnight and he was so excited to push the ball down the alley and then watch and wait for the ball to return! (He of course was running on overdrive with all the family and cousins there to pay attention to him and chase and tickle him).

New Year's Eve was spent with the family at Jose's house. We had a big dinner, played music and sang songs with Caden dancing all around and had roasted marshmellows in the bonfire. Noah was a trooper through everything. Probably got a little spoiled while we were there too with everybody wanting to hold him and constantly give him attention. Most naps were taken on top of somebody and any little noise he would make at night I would immediately get up and nurse him back to sleep so that he would rest and not wake Caden up since we were all in the same room.

While we were there, we got to meet up with my old college roommates. Heather drove down to meet up with Natalie and I at a park. We had so much fun meeting eachothers kids and catching up. The older kids, DJ, Grace and Caden quickly became friends and had so much fun playing on the playground. William and Noah kinda just hung out, maybe next time they will be ready to play too! We will have to get together again soon to meet the 2 new little ones that are on their way. Heather is due in March and Natalie is due in July! How exciting!

It had been a year since the last time Caden was on an airplane so he doesn't remember being n one. He was so excited about flying on one and ever since coming back, he has been playing "airport". He separates an area for his planes and lines all the cars up to go through a gate to get into the airport. I guess this is because we left our car at the airport. It is very cute to watch and see his imagination take off. Both boys did very well on the plane. Noah slept most of the way there.  Didn't do as well coming home but didn't scream the whole time either. :) So overall, I guess his first airplane experience went well. Caden played with his cars and his leappad and did great!

While vacations are fun and its great to be around the people we miss, it is nice to come back home to the everyday schedules and the normal 3 year old and 6 month old "quietness" of our house.
